Mid-Level User Interface Designer - Posted Jan 15th, 2010
Do you love your iPhone not only because it’s beautiful, but also for its ground-breaking UI design? Ever catch yourself critiquing your GPS’s interface? Do you eat, sleep and breathe good design? Then we want to talk with you!
We are looking for a mid-level UI Designer with strong interests and capabilities in planning, designing and presenting wireframes and UI designs. The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. The candidate will have experience in a fast-paced and innovative development environment.
The ideal candidate will specialize in:
* Usability and interaction design
* Information architecture and system modeling
* Strong presentation skills of design solutions
Required experience and skills:
* 2 or more years of user interface design experience focused around visual design for software applications and touch screen devices
* 2 or more years of information architecture experience
* Strong knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash
* Good knowledge of and experience with user interface design patterns, visual design elements, web technologies, and development methodologies
Any of the following skills are a plus:
* 2D or 3D illustration
* Flash animation
* Flex development
* Actionscript /Javascript/HTML/CSS/MXML Coding
* Previous consulting experience
The following is an example of regular job duties
* Collaborating with customers to gather Information Architecture and Usability requirements
* Brainstorming usability best practices and innovation
* Designing information architecture diagrams and usability wireframes
* Artistically designing application skins
* Deciding on animated transitions for various application elements
* Creating style guides of application skins

Our small boutique design firm is more like a family than a place of business. We work hard, have fun and constantly learn from each other. While our work pace is intense for our clients, our business philosophy has always been that slow and steady wins the race. Our office is in a historic downtown building, located next to coffee shops and great restaurants.
About Our Work
Approximately 75% of our work is consulting in the areas of planning, architecting and design of user interfaces for touch screens, web applications and desktop software. We are currently working on several large design projects involving touch screen displays for use in farming and military machinery. (Due to client confidentiality, we cannot put these items on our portfolio site). The other 25% of our work is an interesting mix of infographics, web sites, animations, marketing and print materials. We have both a nationwide and international client base.
And if you research our website, you’ll notice we haven’t updated our website portfolio of work recently. We’ve been too busy!
